[[Access Access]] to the [[Portals Portals]] is managed using Member Groups. The Account Owner or their [[AccountAdministrators Administrators]] set which [[PortalContent Portal Content]] Member Groups can view, whether they can upload files to the Portal, and whether the group has access to the [[Forums Portal Discussion Area (or Forum)]]. There is no limit to the number of Member Groups that can be associated with an Account, but the more groups there are the greater the complexity in managing them.
[[Members Members]] //inherit// the permissions of the group or groups to which they have been assigned. Account Owners and Administrators have their first opportunity to assigned Members to groups when they [[MemberInvite invite Members to access a portal]]. However, Members can be moved in and out of groups at any time.
Every Member, including the Account Owner, belong to the Everyone Member group (unless the Account Owner or an Administrator remove them from it).

Global Items are uploaded files added automatically to every portal owned by an [[Accounts Account]]. The prorogation of new Global Items may not begin for 10 minutes and the time taken to update all portals will depends upon the size and quantity of the items.
You can upload up to 100 files and each file can be up to 100Mb in size. The valid file types are:
- Office Documents (xls, doc, ppt, rtf, etc)
- Text files (csv, txt, etc)
- Video files (flv and mp4 only, free file converter is available from the the upload page)
- Images files (Jpg, Png etc)
- Archive files (Zip, Tar, gZip etc)
These documents are available to members of the 'Everyone' [[MemberGroups Member Group]].
