About SCP Forums

The SCP Portal template includes an optional Forum or Discussion Board. Just like Internet forums, the Discussion Boards are an area where Members can have 'conversations' in the form of posted messages.

Forum Access

Access to the SCP Forums is managed using Member Groups. To have access to the portal forum, a Member must be associated with a Member Group which has been granted access to the forum. This permission can be reviewed in the Member Groups Grid on the Account Properties screen.

The SCP Forums do not allow anonymous entries. If you wish to participate you need to register and then subsequently log-in in order to post messages. You do not have to log-in to read existing messages. All messages need to be approved by a forum moderator before they are published.

Forum usernames and passwords are synchronised only at time of forum creation. This means that if a Member changes their password to the forum it will be different to their portal password. Should this happen the Member can click the Forgotton Password link on the Log-In screen to recover their password.

Moderation

The Account Owner and Administrator are likely to be the Moderators of the forum. This requires a separate password, which is set when the forum is created on the Portal Properties Screen. The Moderator will set the forum topics against which the 'discussion threads' of messages are posted.

Forum Support

The fastest growing forum on the SCP servers is the SCP Support Forum. This forum is common to all accounts and provides a valuable opportunity to tap the knowledge of the community of SCP users. Should you have a question about how to do something on your portal, or why something happens that you did not expect, please post it on the Support Forum. There's a great deal of experience in the SCP community so there's bound to be someone who can help.
